Working on my water machine as well. I was afraid there might be an issue after being dormant for so long but things are shaping up.
Cleaned it up good to include the battery door gasket. Then put a thin coat of silicone on the gasket. Put 8 batteries in there and the tank fired right up. And responded well to coins and my wedding band.
Now I got her going through the dunk test for a few hours and then will hold my breath as I turn her on again. No bubbles surfaced when I weighted her down so I think all will be good to go.! This machine has found me a lot of good stuff at the swimming holes.
