With the freeze set in lately,I have been hard at it researching future sites,I have located numerous locations, but one in particular has sparked my interest,A ghost town.
The town consisted of several houses as well as a post office, then abandoned and relocated in a more favorable location in the mid to late 1800's.
Nothing remains now,and viewing an old aerial map, there was nothing standing in 1938..
Thanks to some warming lately I was able to visit the site today :hello2:
I made a few nice finds, and they are listed below..
Thanks for looking and HAPPY HOLIDAYS :icon_santa:

W. G. BRAIN, a native of Springfield,OH
He was born in 1830; when a youth, he engaged as clerk
in a drug-store here, and subsequently engaged in the drug trade on his own
account, and continued the business here ten or twelve years; he has been in the
lumber trade here for the past eleven years, and has resided here with the
exception of one or two short intervals, all his life. He has been twice
married, his first marriage being with Mary Dyer, of Cincinnati, in 1858; she
having died, he married Elizabeth Dyer, a sister of his first wife, in 1876. By
his first wife he had four children, two of whom are living; he has one child by
his second marriage. His residence is No.272 West Pleasant Street. His oldest
daughter living, Miss Belle M., is Superintendent of Drawing in the city
schools; Robert D. is a graduate of the high school, and Stanley, the young-est,
is a child of 3 years. Mr. Brain's lumberyard and office are between the C., S.
& C., and L. M. depots; he is handling large quantities of lumber, mostly in
car lots.

Sound's and look's like a cool hunt....Nice dig's !!!...

Scott,I love the history side of a find...makes the recovery complete if that makes any sense ;D
Happy Holidays to you and yours....oh I could have used that new chisel of yours today,I bent my digger,I also was covered in mud like a pig,and ripped my raincoat bottoms from the crotch halfway down the leg,I just bought them today.. :laughing7:
But with all that I am still happy I got out...it was a BLAST....Scott

Civil man it was quite an adventure, there was a heart stopping moment when I dug up a thick 2" x 4" piece of green, thought I might have an eagle plate, due to mud it wasnt till I returned home that I discover its a piece of plain copper... :laughing7:
Maybey next time  all in all it was a damn fine hunt.and I enjoyed it very much..
Happy Holidays
