Hey all,
Hope you are well! Echoplex (Mike) and I got out today for an adventure we’ve been planning for a couple months. I heard of an old ghost town from a local historian and told Mike about it. He put his research and mapping skills to work and was pretty certain we could find it. It’s nearly a 4-hour drive from us so we wanted to be pretty certain.
We got an early start and were at the site before 11:00. We still had to hike about a mile to get to it so that took a little time as well. This is what it looked like out there.

Nothing but sage brush for miles. We were looking for a debris field and Mike spotted it first. Old glass fragments, iron. Then he shouts something like, “oh my gosh dude! I can not believe this. Come look at this, I’m not even going to touch it.”
Turns out he found an old trade token right on the surface. Incredible!
It’s aluminum, about the size of a quarter and reads, “Good for 2.5c in Trade” and “The Branch Tacoma Shanklin & Babcock”. There’s only one little reference to this token online making me think it’s pretty rare.

Turns out, that was the find of the trip. We tried for several more hours and did manage to find a few neat relics. My favorites were a Shirley President suspender clip and a Cones Boss button.
This town was pretty tiny so it’s not all that surprising that we didn’t find much.
On the way home we stopped by a modern site where I scored a 43 Merc and 43-S war nickel. Nothing wrong with that cherry on top a fun day.

Thanks for looking and good luck out there you all!
