Decided to stop yesterday after work at one of the many " there's nothing there spots" located around my neighborhood. Got out, picked a program on the dfx and started meandering. First target a wheat at 2 inches, ok good. Second target another wheat, oh wait no it's not that's an Indian. 1899. Ok looks promising. Third target a pull tab. Fourth target another Indian, 1864, now I start getting the you know what feeling. Fifth target solid 89,90 in every direction. Gotta be a soda can, but it's pinpointing real tight at 3 inches. Dug my plug, flipped it over, and there she is staring at me. 1940 walking liberty half dollar. My first walker. I couldn't control myself. Threw it my other pocket, rushed home. People in cars next me thought I was nuts! Smiling and giggling the whole way home. That's for looking. GL, HH. Mike. image.webpimage.webp

Sorry for the crappy pictures, they don't do it justice. The coin is almost in uncirculated condition. Like the person was on their way home from the bank and dropped it.

Big Huge congrats to you! I haven't found big silver yet, but I can imagine how happy you were:coffee2::icon_thumleft:

wat grade as far as a school girl :laughing7: kiddin nice find

Thats why I take my daughter with me detecting, so when the girly giggles bubble forth and people start giving me wierd looks, I can just blame her while I stand around all manly like. :laughing7:

Congrats on the big silver. Such a great feeling seeing a silver coin that size coming out of the ground. :occasion14:

Really nice, know what you mean about the giggling, did it myself today. thought the same thing, another can but surprise surprise. Your surprise was a whole lot better than mine but I am still a happy camper! congrats on such a nice silver

Thanks all, funny thing is I went back today and slapped on my big coil, gridded like crazy, nice tight overlaps, and didn't do very well. Got two memorials, two wheats, a bunch of pull tabs(old ones) and a sterling silver neck tie pin? It's a hunk of silver with onyx overlay, a small 1 inch silver chain attached to it with the number 45 on the other end. I'm guessing 1945? Says d&c ster com on the back with the initials R.H.L engraved in it. Still a cool find though. Anyway, thanks all for looking. Mike.

Actually says d&c sterling gp. Looks like they made jewelry back in the 40's

I know that feeling, I giggle allot too sometimes! Walkers are so pretty, one of my favorites. Great find, congrats!

Awesome Half!, all my high tones keep insisting on being soda cans! one day.......one day!

That is one awesome looking coin!!!! Congrats! It's a good thing you weren't getting out at every red light and running around the car!

The worms did an excellent job detailing that coin before you found it!

Awesome find! Looks like you found yourself a good site there.
