I was going through my finds bucket from 2020. Unless really good like silver, gold, LC, etc. I toss everything into a coffee can. Going through it all I found this button, which I remember, but didn't think much of it.
It says Benedict & Co. Extra Gilt. Flat front with no design. I can't find exact copy on line, but similar buttons are c.1834-43.
