I was never into glass, really, but found some bottle dumps. What do I look for? How do I know what is old and what is just discarded trash? Except for cork top type bottles, is there anything else that will help? I found a square bottle for some kind of liniment yesterday, but it was broken. Do broken bottles have any value? How bout chipped? I hate to pass up a treasure due to ignorance. Thanks.

Keep anything embossed and post pics on here and we'll tell you if anything is junk. Damaged bottles are almost never worth anything unless they are very old and or very rare. Look for blues. greens and yellow bottles. Clear are usually not as valuble, amber and aqua can be good or bad. Good luck, also keep your eyes out for flat top and conetop beer and soda cans. If they are solid and show some paint they can be cleaned and are quite collectable. Check out The Rusty Bunch for more info.
Thanks, Steve

Thanks Digger, I found a brown one gallon jug with the finger hole and cork type top. I'll get pics up ASAP.
