I posted this question in the What Is It? forum but I thought I should ask the experts here:

I bought some vintage eyeglass frames at an estate sale and one pair is marked Glogold. Does anyone here know if Glogold is gold-filled or karat gold or something else?

Thanks!

Rusty

Gold would have either KT or percentage marks ie 585. Most likely an alloy of metals that looks like gold.

I have never actually seen it, but I remember someone mentioning it back in my days as a flea market vendor. From what I remember it is a form of brass/bronze in between yellow brass and red brass, specifically designed to resemble gold. You can always test it if it looks worthwhile.

Take them to a pawnshop or other gold buyer that has one of testers that will tell you exactly what they are made of. Good luck!
