GOING TO GETTYSBURG HAVE QUESTION?

I don't know how true it is but I've been told not to have a detector in the vehicle while in Gettysburg.

I don't know about not having a detector in a car while in Gettysburg.

Hubby and the boys were up there a few months back with our Boy Scout Troop. While in town, hubby visited a metal detecting shop there. Got himself a really nice shovel.

Hubby just left for the store...I'll have to ask him the name. Maybe that owner might be able to tell you! I think hubby got a business card from that store.

Either way, have a great time in Gettysburg. When hubby returns....I'll see if he remembers the name of the store.

PS: ok....hubby can't find the business card. If he gave it to me to put with all the others, it wouldn't be lost! Oh Vey! Anyways, searched the net, asked him and he said this is the place: http://www.gettysburgelectronics.com/

It's not a metal detecting store the way hubby explained it...I was looking for metal detecting stores LOL.... Anyways, this guy might be able to give you some insight of the area. Good Luck and have fun!!!

I used to deal in CW relics in the mid 80's. A friend of mine, another dealer, got offered a large collection of bullets dug at Gettysburg. He called me and asked if I was interested in going halves. I said yes and he bought them. It turned out the seller had been a student at Gettysburg College and in the summer worked for the park service. Some two months after buying them, my friend got a visit from the FBI. They wanted to know where he got the bullets from. He told them the story and luckily they let him off the hook. The student worked on the night shift and would do some midnight detecting. He labeled all the bullets with the location where he found them. My advice is to not go anywhere near the battlefield with a detector in the car.

Do what I would like To
if I Lived Closer.

Go South of the Battlefields.

Find Farms along the Creeks that Run
south From Gettysburg.

See about Permission In these areas
along the creeks.

I Don't think you can be arrested
for digging what Nature Moved
During Agnes in '72 & other Runoffs.

Just make sure to stay a few Yards south of the Property
Lines. Don't give them any reason to Debate
your right to be there.

On your Detector in gettysburg, Broken down
& Batteries Removed it should be legal.
Plus They do not check every car
And don't have X-ray Vision.
Obey the laws they should have no reason to even ask
you what's in your trunk. it's not a gated Community
with Guards at an entrance.
At least it wasn't.

Thanks everyone. I will leave detector in room until I talkto some people in the area.
