We're staying close to a pier and I plan on detecting every morning as soon as the sun comes up. That's when I always hit it. Does anyone have any pointers on where down there to look, if there are better spots, or if anyone has ever found anything decent down there. Shoot me a note on here if you get a chance. we're going down in about a week.

Thanks y'all,

Just doesn't seem right to treasure hunt Sunset Beach at Sunrise!

Ramapirate,

I stayed at Sunset Beach for a week two years ago. I was with a bunch of family members, and couldn't find much time to detect. Seems like near the pier, and right in the heart of the beach are where all the sunbathers/swimmers usually are. I do have one other suggestion, though. Have you heard of the mailbox? If not, there is a mailbox on a post hidden in a sand dune (although fairly easy to find if you're looking for it). It's quite a hike down the beach and just into the dunes. Inside the mailbox is a journal, and people go there to pull it out and write in it, and then put it back in. I'm just wondering if people are pulling it out and sitting in the sand to write, maybe they're losing valuables. Never know...but it might be fun to check out. Just go down the beach and look to your right in the dunes, and you'll see a mailbox on a post that shouldn't even be there. It's nowhere near a house. Try detecting all around the post and maybe any other spots like that where people might be sitting down to write in it. Just a thought...
