Gold plated whatsit found at CW camp?

Found this yesterday in the woods in Winchester where ive found lots of CW bullets and buttons. It looks to be brass with a nice gold plating on it. Its 7/8 of an inch long by 1/4 of an inch wide. I also found a Spencer bullet and a Gardener bullet yesterday in the same spot. Any help on what the gold plated whatsit would be great. Thanks.

Maybe. None i looked at had where the bottoms opened up? I was thinking it was part of a soliders badge. But i guess its wishful thinking.
