I'm sure they are correct in all of this, but wanted to say that it looks similar to this clergy outfit for lutherans..
You ae correct sir.
Many clergy outfits use the Chi Rho symbol. Lutherans and Catholics.
That outfit shows the Alpha and Omega also, the beginning and the end.
The two fish, thought to be one of the first Christian symbols.
The wheat stocks, for the abundance of God.
This is how I understand it.
The chi rho, as legend has it. Is the symbol that Constantine the Great saw in the sky the night before the battle of Melvin Bridge.
Constantine's mother was a Christain. So, it was interrupted as a sign from the Christain God that Constantine would become emperor.
Constantine order his troops to paint the symbol on their shields.
The next day, Maxentius, the legitimate emperor and his troops started across the bridge to attack Constantine's forces.
The bridge collapsed, Maxentius, heavily armored drowned and Constantine became the emperor of 1/4 the Empire.
Claiming it was because of the Christian God that we won the battle easily.
Later he took the rest of the empire from the other three emperors.
He is credited as being the First Christian Roman Emperor. Ordering a consol of Christain Bishops to meet and determine what Christianity is. And eventually ordering the assembly of the first Bible. Bible comes from the Greek word, Biblical, the word for Library, an assembly of books. Which is what the Bible is, an assembly/library of books to be taught to people. This allowed for standard teaching of Christianity.
The Chi Rho was the first, universal Christian "Cross"
Constantine's son with the Chi Rho symbol on his shield.
Later the Chi Rho was replaced by the cross we use today showing the crucifixion.
This is why the symbol is still used. It is the founding of Christianity being accepted in the Roman Empire and the beginning of a very organized religious movement that became Catholicism and Greek Orthodox which eventually became the other Christian religious Sects.
