You should always have a acid test kit, they are cheap

It's prob real, nice find

If that's all it say's is 10k I'd say its real... The way its bent tells me its likely real too.... Fake ones don't bend so easy...

Congratulations on your first gold but, still have it tested.
Keep @ it and HH !!

I know!! and I give all the credit to my children who have gone with me last couple of times!!

I went to the empty lot next to my house before calling it a day today just for the heck of it... Usually I find a couple coins now and then but today I found this little ring that reads 10K on the inside... If it's real it be my first gold!! :-)
Very nice ring. It is better if you got the diamond also. What metal detector do you use to find it?
:hello2:

Super Shortynego - thanks for sharing...

It looks like it only has a little gold plating left on it from the picture. Is that the lighting messing with the way it looks?

The whole thing is still golden but in the picture is full of this concrete hard dessert mud!! We had just pulled it from the ground! :-)

Nice! First gold is always special.

A quick rinse should clean it off nicely. 10k indicates 10/24 purity gold by weight. So if it weighs 3.6 grams, calculate 10 / 24 x 3.6 = 1.5 grams pure gold by weight (I'm using 3.6 as an example, don't know what your ring actually weighs). With a spot price of $1400 (I use Kitco.com for info), 31.1 grams/troy oz. would mean $1400/ 31.1 x 1.5 to give you an approximate value of the gold content. In this case $1400 / 31.1 x 1.5 = $67.52. So you won't get snookered by one of these "We Buy Gold" places, if you should ever decide to sell it.

You should be able to find a nice acid test kit for under $20, but I prefer to do a density test as you don't have to deal with the acids and it isn't destructive to the item.

Wow thank you very much!!... How do you do a density test though?

Very nice find. I bet you're stoked!
