Great finds Laird, WTG!!!
From the size those stones looked to have been, it would probably be well worth the effort to look for them...
Good luck, & Happy hunting~

;D ;D ;D sweet find dude !!!! ;D ;D ;D all the best with the stones.... ;D

Wee like the ring from here!!!

Congrats!!

That's a beautiful ring, any Scottish hallmarks inside the band? Looks too old to have any hallmarks, the 3 stones were probably emeralds and the ring has a 1600 to early 1700 look about it. Just an idea and HH, Mike

Beautiful finds. Get a good dirt sifter and give it a try. Finding the stones too would really be nice.

Very Very nice ring!

Would be soooooooo awesome to find the stones!

Great finds, congrats.

The 18 most probably stands for 18K. My guess is that for the stones to be out of what appears to be intact mountings, they would have to be stones that would possibly "disintegrate" or dry out over time, and fall out of the mountings. This would be probably opals. At this point they would be worthless if found.
The mounting is excellent though, and if mine, I would have some precious stones reset into it. Mounting is probably 1860's-1910. Someone earlier mentioned 1600-1700. Not this old, as stones were poorly faceted then and did not usually have an open back setting. This ring does, and the style woulf date it to 1800's, at the earliest.

Very nice find and I would agree the 18 stands for 18k gold, 18k gold is 75% gold. Great find.
