Am I correct in assuming that is almost half an ounce of virtually pure gold

Yes, it is too soft. And very badly beaten up. Also way too heavey to wear. :O

SD51 It is really quite common in Asian/Indian cultures Actually an alloyed ring would be an oddity. What I was told when I was over in India was that they view things that are not pure as defiled or not sacred so alloying gold makes it impure. They are a big fan of Flawless diamonds and crystals as well. What a great find here. Wish some of that would wash up on the left coast here

Funny a guy tried to call me out and said "they dont make 24K - too soft" - then he found one in 2018
I have found 5 - 22K ones also
