are you melting down todays finds?????
 
Is that a crucible with gold in it?
 
what I am doing is called cupelling, that is the extraction of gold from a lead prill, the cupel is made of bone ash. The bone ash absorbs the lead material when heated to 1000 degrees leaving only precious metals behind. Hince the term... if you can cupel it, you can sell it. As you can see the lead is starting to melt and it releases the gold. hope this helps, this is one of the final steps in a process of many steps of refining gold from ore rock.

Bone ash? well that's good, too many cats around here anyway. they're killing the quail.

I've always been one for amalgam in a potato, but I'd like to hear more...
