If you Google "Marana meteor December" you'll see the story of a major meteor that broke up and fell around the Tucson area on December 10, 2013. My friend found a piece in her yard so we're going to take the MDs out for a little hunt. Hopefully we'll find something.

Good Luck!! Ive been researching an old impact zone near me, haven't put feet on the soil yet..not sure what to look for neccesarially...so interested in your findings..HH!!

Supposedly they are black charred smooth masses that are obviously metallic. They can be huge or just a pea size.most will be surface finds if they're that small. I'll let you know what I find if anything.

There's a chance of finding them without any equipment too. I'll just keep my pro pointer handy.
