I hit up a few garage sales today and bought a few items at one sale and think I did pretty good. Picked up a few coins - 13 Indian head cents, a shield nickels, some barber dimes, silver halves, silver nickels. I know coins and got a great deal... Especially with a few Indian head cents being in xf to au shape
But what I don't know are watches, but for the price I paid, $27, I thought it was worth a shot. Pics are below. From my limited research its a 1951 Elgin pocket watch. 17 jewels. 10k rolled gold plated. It "works" I can wind it and it ticks...
It's in good shape. The face has no scratches and looks original. The back has some scratches and dents... But they appear to be from the inside out
scratches on the movement ( think that's the word) appear to be similar or match up with the scratches on the inside of the back of the watch... Like someone kept something inside it...
Anyway... If you guys found it what would you do with it... Sell as is? Repair and sell? I really have no interest in keeping it. Thanks!
