Got out to another stretch of shoreline with AQUA and ED and besides the usual assortment of musket balls and assorted lead found a few unusual finds.

Find of the day was the silver hinged lid with decorative thumb finial. weirdest find of the day is the half coconut shell. I thought it was a cannonball at first because only the top with the large hole was sticking out of the mud but when I waved my detector over it not a peep! The other unusual find is the stone piece with the hole through it. Not exactly sure what this is...either a native piece of maybe a sharpening stone. Looks like it was on a cord for a long time based on the grooves on both sides running from the hole...

What's your detector?

I see a .45-70 bullet in your handfull.

Neat finds..silver is nice and I like the rock with the hole in it....of course the lead too

I think the hinged silver piece was a crumb sweeper (cigar ash too I suppose ) would have had a handle and been part of a butler's
accouterments . Nice find !
If this what I think it was - it's part of the dustpan (not the sweeper )

Great finds! Thanks for sharing...

Was a good day ... the wind was kinda brrrr.

Started snowing just after Romeo found the coconut shell..he upset the detecting gods with non metal finds !!!

Fun day tho...but no buttons 2 days in a row...not a good sign !!!

Nice ID on the silver

Must have come from a rich home, I mean silver dust pan, that's rich. A good sized CHUNK of silver in any case. Are all the parts silver ?
The native piece thinking the grove from hole outward, must also have been purposely made rather than string wear ?

Yep...all silver...including the hinge.

That's a great piece of silver there, I'd be very happy with that.
ZDD

Not to detract from your finds but the rock thing looks like a stone (pumice stone) they use to clean toilets and they make 1 with a hole for a string to hang in the shower for removing calluses or dried skin off of your feet.JMO I don't have the weight to go off of, pumice would be light weight, if heavy I am wrong then.

I would post that pendant stone in the Native American artifacts section. It might prove to be a very good find if it is what I think it is. There are lots of people there that will be able to give you a positive id if it is a Native piece.

May be a weight for a fishing net.

weight for fishing net was my thought as well.
