Hit the beach on Fri late afternoon into the evening and it was still pretty packed right up until sundown. I did a VERY long hump on this one as parking was pretty much non-existent in any of the free areas so I had to park way further than I anticipated. The whole route covered about 6 miles straight-line distance but we all know we never walk in a straight line! Musta done at least 7 on this one but it was worth it!
It was a couple miles and a few pennys before I got my first nice tgt. It was a steady 3 on the meter and after sifting and losing the damn thing a few times I finally got it out and found an old piece of dental gold. 0.8 grams and tested between 14K and 18K.
The next Rang up as a nice solid 14 on the Equinox and looked great in the scoop! It has a kind of tiara or crown look to it. It's 10K 2.8 grams and all the diamonds on it are real.
The next ring I thought for sure was junk. It rang up as a good 9 on the detector but when I saw how brown and dull it was I threw it in the junk pouch and kept going. It wasn't until I was at home that I saw the 10K mark inside and was still thinking yeah, right, but after some cleaning and then an acid test I realized that it was gold just really stained from whatever it was laying with. Looked kind of old and has 3 Christian crosses on it. 10K 1.3 grams.
Rest of the hunt was relatively uneventful, ran into a couple others out there who hadn't found much up till that point, hope they did better later, like Max did the other day and I'm sure you will see his pictures soon (or check out his video he just put up!)
Gold is in the water and depositor season is here!
Adding some picts at the end from a previous hunt that netted a silver and junk ring.
Good luck all!
