While detecting outside Salisbury my friend spotted the Gorget in sandy farm soil. Lots of arrowheads have been found there also.
He gave me the arrowhead and worked piece found prior in the area.

Interesting finds, but I thought a gorget was a neck or chest protector? Could you enlighten me? Thanks.

I’m no expert but I believe Indians used as jewelry hung around neck my piece is broke at the hole, I speculate.

Good study piece. I have a section of a large game stone I found years ago that was drilled in the middle. Tennessee culture was in my area of NW Georgia

Very nice finds.
What is the material used for the broken gorget?

Hard to tell for sure from the pics but to me the smaller one looks more notched than drilled. That end looks to be worked down instead of broken as well. Killer find either way!!!! Congratz

Agree with Creekside. It’s a good study piece. It appears water-worn or weathered.
It is definitely a mid section of a broken two-holed Gorget. The tapered hole shows that it was drilled almost entirely from one side. Notice the tapering.

The actual use is uncertain.

The white Quartz triangle looks to be a Levanna type. (One of my favorite types found in the Northeast.)

Help me out. Where's the tapering on the smaller one and why isn't that side broke like the other hole? That edge is worked down, not broken . imho

I believe small hole is also tapered added more picks. Agree with sandstone. All sandy soil in area found.

That type of drill hole shows it being Adena Culture drilled from one side. Very good new pictures
