Went out dirt fishing last night and found my 5th Jesuit Ring. This Seneca Indian site dates back to 1655-1675. The Jesuits here preaching Christianity to the Senecas. They brought trade items with them. I can't believe in 6 trips and I found the 5th one. This one has an L with a really crude heart! I also picked some glass trade beads. One is a really cool black glass tube bead and the others are red trade beads, which are so great to find. The trick is to find something so small in a plowed field! Thought i'd put in a pic of all 5 Rings!View attachment A538 - 20181011_214426.bmpView attachment A539 - 20181011_214429.bmpView attachment A542 - 20181012_165740.bmpView attachment A543 - 20181012_170621.bmp

Congratualtions on the multiple trade rings! :occasion14:

Wow, I wonder how old that ring really is.

I cant imagine how long it was on a sail ship just to get here in the 1600's:thumbsup:

Great find! Congratulations!

Imagining the history behind such wonderful finds is one of the best things about detecting. Congrats on ring #5. You have a great site. Keep swinging.

Very cool find,, does the the L and the heart stand for "Love?"

I think the L and the heart is to display devotion to the jesuit founder Ignatius Loyola or french king Louis XIII, XIV. I'm just mind boggled that this site just keeps giving and giving. 1655-1675...One can only imagine what was going on here back then! Getting close to planting winter wheat and that will be the close of the season on this site. Think I still got a week or so left.

Amazing finds! Jewelry doesn't interest me too much, but those rings and the history they represent are awesome! I'd love to find one of those!!!

Well you must be on marsh site or dann or Rochester junction....you do know those sites are off limits and your being watched and could get arrested right?....
