Watched my grandson grow up from playing football as a tiny player to Arkansas State Football Champs in his junior year and then State Runner ups this year. He got Defensive player of the Game in the state championship game. He has kept his grades up while doing this. But, contrary to what numerous people thought that he would do, he signed with the 3 time National Champion Trap and Skeet College of the Ozarks with Scholarship . I believe that they beat out Alabama for their last one. My grandson is going to the Jr Olympics to shoot in Denver this summer. His younger sister is this year's Arkansas State Champion Female Trap Shooter. Proud? And How! The Ozark Coach said that he/they had been watching him since the 10th grade which surprised us. They said that his dedication and work ethics along with his grades were exactly what they were looking for. Pretty exciting day for our family. Now he has to do his part.

From one proud grandpa to another "Happy Days".....Joe McDonough

they are doing great i'll bet your really proud of them

Just awesome, I bet your so proud!! I wish we had skeet shooting teams when I was growing up. My brother and I just did it for fun all the time. I tell you what though, we used to smoke the old guys who would come out bragging. They would usually say something like "lets teach these youngsters to shoot". We would let them go first, we always said just shoot till you miss then lets see which team can have the most hits. Well after the old guys would hit 10 to 20 a piece. one of us would step up and hit 40 to 50 in a row and they would just sit there blood boiling and cursing. Never did need to have both of us take our turn.... Come to think of it none of those grouchy old guys ever paid up either.....

That is Awesome! I'm so happy for your Grandson, Granddaughter, you and your family! I bet you had something to do with getting them started in shooting...Congratulations!

I just couldn't believe that such a small school could be so awesome in this sport. They have only been doing this sport for about eight years. They have to compete against ALL college levels and even at Internationale level. The youngest brother is also besides being a great shooter, is competing in school fishing tournaments and hopes to go into one or both fields in college. Proud? you watch them grow from the little awkward kids into real athletes or adults that hopefully have learned something about making better decisions. My grandson was very good at the football game but knew that the odds of making it into the NFL were slim. Plus, he was tired and worn out from practicing so hard every year. When he found out that a college was interested in him for his shooting skills, he was blown away. He has been competing with a hunting shotgun so he will have to upgrade and most likely to an over and under. He told me, "Grandpa, I get to go to college to shoot, to shoot all I want and they pay for the shells...how cool is that?" We hope that as grandparents to be some sort of positive influence on our grandkids. yeah, somehow proud is an understatement but it will have to work for now. DL

me being a country boy i love to shoot that would be a dream come true

BIG congrats DL.

Congratulations. Them grandkids always beat us out on everything, which is a thing to be proud of. As far as skeet shooting goes, I shot only 5 out of 25 in training. That FBI instructor rode me about that, so I told him if I ever confronted a suspect armed with Frisbees, I'd just throw down and go to the house.
