Has anyone ever used old Maps and a GPS to locate old House sites? Are the old survey Maps that accurate?

Depends on who map the map. Many of them were very accurate, and you can over-lay old maps onto modern satellite images and see existing buildings exactly where they were mapped.

Of course, this won't be true for all, but I bet most could get you within 50 feet which is more than enough for our needs.
