back to the farm complex. all fields have had a 3 foot turn, but this was along the dirt perimeter road. hard 88 at 8 inches. FMERG stood by with the Minelab in awe as it escaped the thick clay. another large copper, may be NJ Nova Cesarea AGAIN :icon_thumleft::icon_thumright: front of a gilt cufflink, another 1940 bird band, plus a '07 "V" that is roached. once again____feels good to beat Frank & the SE-PRO like cake batter :laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:. before I could shoot the "as found photos" he had the plate ID'ed as 1851 Federal issue. in 4 years of swingin' this has to be my best ever find 8-)8-) IMG_2927.webpIMG_2928.webpIMG_2929.webpIMG_2930.webpIMG_2931.webpIMG_2932.webpIMG_2933.webpIMG_2934.webp more photos Thursday after some careful cleaning.

Wow that's some buckle I love it congrats on a great find. H gl

I'm not much into relics, but the plates and buckles are a thing of beauty!

Congrats :icon_thumleft:

What a beauty! I'm voting banner on this one. I don't know much about these sword buckles other than some had silver or nickel wreaths that wasted away in the soil and I only know this from my husband finding one years ago and going to Civil War shows. Some are Indian War period and some are Civil War period. I found a thread on another treasure hunting site that described them a little better and there are several threads here with all the minutiae, details, and nitty gritty on this particular style. I know you had to be thrilled when you dug that.

Sometimes those brass buckles come out looking exactly like that though. Looks great to me. You can still see where the wreath was which is super cool. I've found that a light coating of olive oil can help bring out the finer details.

Congrats on an awesome Sword Plate!

Wow Rich! What a fantastic find. I'll bet Frank cried all the way home after seeing you find that beautiful sword plate. You've got my banner vote!

Great find! An 1851 was my first relic find!

Congrats on your awesome plate!
