... and what smiled up at me from the earth? An 1889 IH! Also a 1942 D wheatie. The earth never gives up all her secrets at once.
Also shown, a 'Mission Beverages' bottle. I was scavenging the sand bars on the river and spotted the end of a bottle poking about three inches out of the dirt on the bank...took my chances to remove it thinking, yeah, just another busted piece of refuse. Surprise...a whole bottle...although the label is disintegrated, but at least enough remained to get an ID on it. I'm not a privy digger, as much as id like the opportunity, I just dig while I detect...everything else is surface. I do collect fragments of broken bottles and stoneware and all that, especially if it has design or writing on it...will integrate that into some art work some day(the whole found-objects-art ordeal).
I posted a dirty pic of the IH as it came out of the earth...in case one might think I'd be bluffin...cause I tend to find some pretty nice ones for their stay in the ground. The pics do no justice to the actual patina...such a beautiful green...nothing like it.
GL & HH everyone!
