... and what smiled up at me from the earth? An 1889 IH! Also a 1942 D wheatie. The earth never gives up all her secrets at once.

Also shown, a 'Mission Beverages' bottle. I was scavenging the sand bars on the river and spotted the end of a bottle poking about three inches out of the dirt on the bank...took my chances to remove it thinking, yeah, just another busted piece of refuse. Surprise...a whole bottle...although the label is disintegrated, but at least enough remained to get an ID on it. I'm not a privy digger, as much as id like the opportunity, I just dig while I detect...everything else is surface. I do collect fragments of broken bottles and stoneware and all that, especially if it has design or writing on it...will integrate that into some art work some day(the whole found-objects-art ordeal).

I posted a dirty pic of the IH as it came out of the earth...in case one might think I'd be bluffin...cause I tend to find some pretty nice ones for their stay in the ground. The pics do no justice to the actual patina...such a beautiful green...nothing like it.

GL & HH everyone!

PS: The bottle is from 1948 according to Illinois/Owens dating scheme...

The soil has been kind to the IH; looks like XF Details. The bottle is great also.

Very nice IHC.

Congrats! That IH is a beauty!

It's so awesome when coppers have that beautiful emerald green patina. Love the bottle too!

That is a really nice IHP with great detail! Congrats on such a well preserved coin! I imagine when it was lost it probably looked like a bright new penny!

Nice finds, congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Beautiful Indian- Congrats!

Congrats on your cool finds & GL & HH to you too ! I just had to post because of this strange coincidence. About 3 hours ago I stopped in the
local convenience store & spotted a wheatie faced down in the "Give-a-Penny/Take-a-Penny" tray. Popped it in my pocket & checked it out
when I got home. A 1942-D ! Then I went on TNet & saw your post. Strange day indeed. I'm playing 1942 across the board tomorrow in
my state lottery !!Cheers !! J.T.G. (see image)
