ground balancing with a ferrite coil or rod

nwr - thanks for the come back. the idea behind the ferrite coil or rod , is to balance the meter in the air and then while it is still in the air, bring individual rocks to the meter and check the rock for nano gold. apparently if the balance is done correctly you can find gold the size of a pin head. wayne

vito - i checked several metal detecting books and got nothing on the subject. even the mxt manual did not tell me anything. then i got lucky - i was rechecking the dvd that came with the mxt and in the section on relics, there it was ! one of the demonstrators of the detector proceded to do it as part of the demonstration of alternate grounding. it looks real easy. i think that i will follow the suggestion of john straight the author and use the goldmaster v/sat without activating the vsat. thanks again for your "comeback". wayne
