Gun? Old lever?

This was found in my woods and at first it looked like a gun but the I saw a seam on one side and a bolt through it so I'm really not sure anymore. Any ideas?

Old "pop gun" I think? Toy gun that had the added feature of going "ka-choonk!" (not really "pop") when you cocked and fired it, saving you from running around yelling "pow pow pow" much to the chagrin of everyone within earshot.

Yeah, I'm not so sure about my guess above... I think I just wanted to be something on my x-mas wish list.
The photo angles confuse me; in the fist one it looks like the one end is all floppy, but in the last seems rigidly enough in place. And it's iron you say?
