Well got out for a bit today in a creek & had the best day I wish I could have stayed longer since I only was able to get thru about 1/4 of this gravel bar & I know it would have produced more but the sky grew ominous & the wind was terrible so I got out of the creek! :-[
If any one can tell from the pics what they might be?
Thanks for any help.

Nice. Do you have an Overstreets refrence book for your area? That is what I have to use. Maybe some of the guys from your area will be able to give a shout out.
Great day when you can find just one.

 i like em jamey

TNMOUNTAINS, I have been meaning to get an overstreet book but just have never gotten around to it. I do have a book written by someone from my area but the only one I can kinda tell is the 2nd arrowhead (it is about 3" long) it kinda looks like a Scottsbluff? not sure though. :tard: Its kinda funny about The Red Knife I have found one like it about two miles down stream of this one, differant material but its the same shape you put them side by side & they are exact.
Thanks 4 the commints guys :)

Would really help to know where they were found.

Without getting to specific (I always worry about "claim jumpers" ;D  just kidding no one on this would do that!) NE KS. Does that help any? :icon_scratch:

Top one looks like a Stone, the 2nd one may be also. The 3rd one looks like a make-shift blade that isn't too discernible as a type. You'll find a ton of those!

Now by "stone" do you mean a name or type of arrowhead or just a rock? :icon_scratch: I've never heard of an arrowhead called a "stone" or do you mean the material? Because when you get to hold them they're definitely worked!
Everyone I've shown them to right away knows what they are. You can't really tell from the pics. they aren't that good.
I know what you mean about the "blade" I've found another one approx. 2mi downstream from this a while ago EXACTLY like it except its not red.
Don't get me wrong I appreciate everyone giving an idea of what it might be & I'm not mad in the least, I'm just trying to figure out what they are & still learning. Thanks 4 your patients!
Thanks :)

I really need to study midwest typologies, and wont take a stab at i.d.ing those, I'm sure someone here will have a good idea though. Nice pics and finds.

I think when Matt says "stone' he is referring to a stone square stem point, but that just a guess. thats a real good water way you have there, as thats pretty much all I hunt here in IL. If you could take another pic. with them all side by side, and with something in the pic. for scale, like a quarter that would also help. Happy Hunting, and I hope this helps!

Hey Kiss Fan, I was thinking the same thing BA was.. I always try to put an insitu on as well as a good cleaned up photo. It helps a lot.. John

Yup, stone square stem. "Stone" is actually a family of points, very prevalent in MO, ARK, and a few in OK & KS. Confusion abounds in the "Stone" family. For instance, there is a "Stone Corner Notch" (also known as Landers) which may actually just be a Kings or Haskell.

It's as bad as the Rice family up in Missouri - Rice contracting stemmed serrated (Searcy), Rice contracting stem (Standlee), etc.

If the pics aren't good interpretations of the points, take better pics and show them.

Thanks for all the help, I have so much to learn it seams they have SO many kinds & so many names!
I couldn't get on the PC last night with pics because of lightning but I will get a pic of all of them together with a quarter & ruler again for ref. I did have a pic but of the 2nd point with a ruler but it was out of focus.
Thanks again Phil :)
ps I'm getting an overstreet book!

Instead of Overstreet, I recommend your first typology books to be the bell / perino series from OAS. Overstreet is full of alot of pretty pictures, but the accuracy of information is very lacking. Also, get ahold of Daryl Wilson and join the Kansas Arch society and check out some of their publications, as well as Missouri.

Thanks, Its funny you should mention him I had already talked to him & going to go to an artifact show this spring it was over the phone so I can't wait to get his input.

I'll check out those books.

Daryl's a great guy and fun to be around, give him a titty twister for me when you see him.

Hey guys, Here is a closer & more in focus shot.
Hope it helps.
