So a buddy and I went out to check the swimming spots on a local lake. I kept getting signals from 40-50 on my at pro, 6-8" deep.
Every time I'd dig, the signal would disappear. Not in the plug and not in the hole. It happened often enough I just ignored anything in that range.

It did appear the soil changed from sand to a clay/ sandy black soil...

So what was I experiencing?

sometimes it something that is really rusty, then it falls apart.

Sometimes it is a piece of foil that floats away as you scoop.

Might be changes of mineralization or too high a sensitivity setting......or a combination of the two. Try turning down the sensitivity and/or take it out of Pro, like you would have to do on a salt water beach.

I was leaning towards mineralization changes since the soil changed color and density.
Thanks for the sanity check... I kinda felt like a racoon washing cotton candy...
