Bill D. invited me down to his hood today to an old field that spanned multiple periods. It was a beautiful day (a little warm for my liking) and the field was nice and remote which keeps the nosey people from gawking.
Since Bill is a well oiled machine I knew I had to find a good spot before he got into efficient mode and dug the place clean. I wandered a little finding a few buttons and a silver Rosie. Then I started hearing a little more iron than usual and spotted a couple of brick frags so I started to grid that area. I found the usual good indicators like buttons, tacks and buckle pieces then I got a good high tone and pulled out the cut spanish. I immediately showed Bill to rub it in (and to let him know that I found a good little area if he wanted to come over). That spot produced a few more buttons and buckle pieces and other brass pieces.

Thanks for looking and thanks for the invite Bill

Man when you dig silver you don't mess around Joey. First that honker cob and now a huge cut piece. That's OK - I was glad you had a nice find to take home after driving all the way out here. Definitely a productive and fun hunt. And after the peanut harvest in the fall there should be a whole new layer of goodies exposed at this site. Hope this will hold you over until October. See ya.

Alright, Joey! Now that is how you do it Colonial-style. Bill is a great guy and mentor.

Nice silver Joey. More old relics for the boxes as well. That Bill is a good guide huh? HH, Q.

Yeah I guess he's alright :). I took some great pictures of his museum he calls a house. Maybe he'll let me post them one day.....it's pretty amazing.

Damn buddy that's a nice piece! Great job. Hoping my first full year nabs me a piece of Spanish silver. You've got it down pat buddy

Good research sprinkled with a little bit of luck is going to net you some great finds. I look forward to watching what you post. Joey

Nice crisp detail on that spanish, I think that a real plus. Good looking coin.

Thanks Rick. It's always great to get a portion of the date which I rarely ever do. I'm trying to get my wife to ask if we can go spend a few days at her clients house by you. I would love to do some fishing up there. It's a long shot though since that may breach some sort of company policy.

If "policy" is an issue, we'll just go and knock as if we're both locals. I forget exactly what you said, but in that vacinity, a couple of 2Rs (uncut) were found in one hunt.
I'm already "in" on a couple large plots in the area.

Excellent Piece, with a very short circulation life! I see you guys find a decent amount of cut silver down there, nice!

I found 3 cobs and 4 cut silver (i lost one) this year. Compare that to 5 colonial coppers. Not sure why we find more spanish silver but I'm not complaining. I haven't found a hammered British silver yet but I'm happy I live in an area where it's possible.

Very nice cut Spanish !!!! Great detail as well.

Looks like a great hunt you guys had......I want to find one of them this year !!!!

Real nice cut silver Joey, CONGRATS on all the stuff, a great day of hunting for sure
