All forty eight/nine prior boxes of halves I picked up this year, and the three or four in December, were all the same 5x5x2 brown boxes. No printing on them, except for "$500 Halves".

This morning, tried a new bank, and the halves came in one of those 5x10x1 boxes I've seen some of you post in your photos. It is stamped having been packed/inspected 27 Feb 07.

And it has the holes in the top, so Jack (and hopefully Ben & Lady Liberty) can breathe. :D

Curious what might dictate the the type of boxes halves come in. Again the first fifty plus, from different banks/branches, were the same 5x5x2. This new bank uses the 5x10x1.

Is it armor carrier-determined, the bank themselves, or something else ?

Will try to get to this new box tonight, before going out of town next week.

I think it is armored car or Cash Vault determined. Do you know the carrier of either branch? I have seen Loomis and ATS use the 5x5x2 box. Lets us know the results. I like that they post the inspection date. It gives you another tracking method.

The boxes I get are always 5x10x1 and always carry the date stamp. Sometimes I get boxes with dates that are months ago. However I started picking up my pace (2-4 boxes/week) and now the dates seem to be fairly recent.

Do you keep a log for dates? Are the yields better for the older months versus the current dates. The boxes that I get tend to be better if they are crushed by the weight of other boxes on top of them. I think the silver coins migrate through the boxes and end up on the bottom of the pallet ;D

The boxes I have been getting are the 5x10x1....they have been dated Nov 7 2006. This date has produced pretty good so I also increased my orders from the usual 1 box to 2 boxes. I am not sure who/what determines the box size.

People have been talking about this alot. But what I have found is it makes no diffrence what so ever. It just means either they switched boxes or its a diffrent carrier. If you have been doing it for a while a diffrent carrier could be a good thing. There is only one carrier that has the 5x5x2 here and I order 2000 a week and have never been skunked yet as a whole. Individual boxes have had nothing but the least I have got from them is 10 silver coins between them all. A couple places here use quarter boxes turned inside out and those were really good to me at first but I found they are coming from the same place as my dump bank sends them back. So you guessed it...... all of them for the last month have been skunks. The flat boxes havent been too good to me lately either. Very hit and miss on those. Even the roll paper wether its yellow green or black I have found substantial silver in all. So the main thing is the carrier and how much they have returning to them from CRHers.
