Half of a bullet mold, watch, Chinese coins

Just getting a chance to post what I found a couple of days ago at an old gold mining site (1850’s - 1930’s).

Half of a brass bullet mold. It’s either .31 or .32 caliber. Length is 4 7/8”. I searched for the other half without any luck. It’s a tough hunt. The area is covered with brush and poison oak.

I also found a pocket watch and fob (Cal Bears) from the 20’s and a hotel room key fob.

Lastly, I found my first coins ever, of any type! Two Chinese coins.

Top one minted between 1661 - 1722. The other 1796 - 1820.

On the way out I got a good signal. Turns out it was the copper wire wrapped around some insulators. Ended up finding 12 total. 3 in perfect condition.

Those are some cool finds! I especially like the Chinese coins, and find it interesting they were still being used as currency 100+ years after being minted.

The room # is cool...nice to see the chinese coins...I found some here in Seattle awhile back...kind of a nice surprise...and the insulators are nice too...were they caked in mud when found? They cleaned up nicely....here's one example of the Chinese coins I found up here on Capitol Hill...sorry it's a bit dark...

Coinstar magnet: Cool coin! I was excited to find them. Quite the journey they took to end up being dropped in California or Seattle. The insulators were in the dirt. It was surprising to suddenly see glass. They clean up great.

You can see a little bit of the copper wire on the left one.

Those really did clean up nicely. I can see those displayed with some good lighting...I wonder what the dates would be on those...

Coinstar magnet: Those insulators were made between 1920 - 1935 when the company (McLaughlin) went out of business. They were for telephone lines. There's a whole world of insulator collectors that I never knew about until I found those. The rare ones can be valuable. Pretty cool.

That bullet mold is awesome, it looks like it casts both a round ball and a conical style bullet. Great find.
