Halfs, nickels and penny finds

Well, for those of you who complain that they only find a couple of 40%ers or 90%ers, please mail them to me. I have now gone 4-$500 boxes in a row with nothing.

Pennies: $10 total- 54D, 46, 44, 53P and a 1929D Wheaties. Not bad

Nickels: $30 total- 1 war nickel and 24 pre-59.

Good luck and take the silver when you can.

My box finds have been poor lately also. I have started buying them from other banks in the hope that they will come from a different depository, with luck, it will be one that hasn't been picked thru as much.

I don't want to give the impression that one or two 40%-ers aren't worth keeping. I'm grateful to get anything. It's just not the results I expect from searching thru five times the amount I normally do.

Yes, getting skunked sucks, but to a certain extent so does finding one per box. It just makes the drive to the bank and lugging that heavy box around less worth it. Especially when I can get the same results from $100 in casino halves.

Part of the problem is my own expectations. I see unrealistic visions of Franklins and Walkers showing up in every box. I should know better. But is it unrealistic to anticipate occasionally find one of these? I don't think so, and this site has proven this to be correct.

I'm a big number cruncher. If, after 10 or so boxes I haven't found even one 90%-er than that's going to be typical, at least for my area. To me there's a better way (the casino) and I'll stick to it as long as can.

Do you just do your casino or do you make the rounds. The strip. Down town. Small places in the burbs.

I must admit I don't cover as much territory as others on the board. I will try other casinos near mine, and have had decent luck with them. Time is against me. I work long hours (that mirror bankers' hours) which doesn't allow much bank hopping time. I have a 30-minute window some days to pick up boxes at my Wells (I'm there right when they open) and sometimes their change delivery doesn't come before I have to leave.

I will ask for halves at the small penny casino I frequent but if they have one or two halves on any given day it's an event.
