Hallmark on sterling base of glass bowl

Found this glass bowl, with a heavy sterling silver base.

Glass portion of the bowl is 9 1/8" in diameter. The sterling base is about 4 7/8" in diameter. the sterling of the base is thick, about 5/32" thick. The base is marker: Sterling Hallmark(looks like a griffin inside of the letter C) 458

I've knocked off those silver bases before for the scrap if I get them cheap. The silver part is kinda thick and have some good weight in order to support the glass. How much was that piece? I'm thinking it might have as much as 15 to 20 bucks in silver on it.

I paid $9.98 for 5 items, including the bowl. so about $2.00.
