I Remember as a Kid in the Small town I grew up in Circa 1968
000ccc.webp

After Making our Rounds Trick-or-Treating for Candy We would be Let Loose
in Town to Throw Corn, Soap Windows, Ring Door Bells & Knock then Run
wherever we wanted.
the older Kids 17-18 perhaps a Few older ones would Prowl the Ally ways and tip Out Houses :laughing7: of Course In the Morning We would Hear how they had to put them up again. :tongue3:
one night after I was no longer joining in. The Corn Hit our Windows & My Dad was in a Rare Mood, he ran a Hose upstairs & Waited for a second Round .
The corn hit the Window & The Hose Started Flowing .
Of course the Kids Loved it & Were out there till Dad got Tired of Fighting/playing with them :laughing9: Much Fun !!!

My dad was Mr. fix it for Most of the Towns Kids.
Flat bicycle tires, Help Building a Go Cart, We Had a Pool Table out Back in the Garage & Home Made Root Beer .
So there was no Ill Intent from either side.

Now I guess it's a Lost art Where there are no Mayors & Police Force

And Illegal where there is.

and Converted to "Devil's Night" there ?

Window soaping ? ? ?

"hey kid ! ... quit washing my window ! "

:/

Around here it's called mischief night and doorbell night and falls on the night before Halloween.

People would throw toilet paper in trees, soap windows, throw eggs, smash pumpkins...etc.

What was innocent fun ringing doorbells became destructive.

Times have changed through the years unfortunately. Times have now gotten so mean, that it would be truly unsafe for kids to attempt soaping windows or "rolling" yards for fear of being shot as home invaders or other criminals. People are on edge, and rightfully so. It is Much safer for kids to do the Trunk or Treat thing or local fall festivals held at church's or communities today JMHO
