I found this piece today. I only had 15 minutes or so, and really wasn't in the mood for straining my eyes. I walked and found what I feel sure is a hand spade. It's odd because you can hold it in the right hand, flip it over and it fits a lefty. I also found a point and the other half of a point I found a week or so back.

Am I correct on the top one being a spade? Thanks for viewing!

In my opinion it could have had a few different uses.

Most of the big things I find like that I just call choppers, envisioning buffalo and deer bone being busted open for marrow. I would imagine they could have done a fair amount of scraping too.

Thanks for showing and asking.............Joel

Yes sir the top one. It does look capable of being called a multi purpose tool. Looking at it now, and I think you are right in calling it a chopper. It shows no polish that is frequently visible on dirt working tools. I appreciate your opinion. I think my whole thread title is misleading. It's a rather crude tool and not going to be a popular view for the guys looking pretty artifacts. However, it is just as significant as any artifact. Thanks again!!

Yeah! looks like a chopper or digging tool.

Thank you digger! I would have a hard time using a prehistoric tool box. I couldn't tell a spade from a screw driver.... Really couldn't tell a screw driver from a screw. Lol thanks so so much!

Heck yeah, a multi-tool. It may have even been used it to knock their mother-in-law around. :laughing7:
