I am just curious if you guys have a favorite GPS I am looking primarily at Garmin as I can get a decent deal on them. I am looking for something for hiking and such I already have a unit in my car. I had been originally looking at something like the garmin fortrex but have head something that has maps may be better.

Melton13,

I'm a Louisiana State Game Warden and I use the Garmin Montana 650. I bought it because the state issue handheld GPS was the Garmin 76, which I think has been discontinued by Garmin, anyhow I'm extremely pleased with the Montana 650, it does everything I need it to do plus more. Not sure if it's what your looking for, but you can check it out on Garmin's website...

I recently got a Garmin gpsmap 64st.
Like it for the most part, but the mouse pointer is kinda silly, especially when only the arrow buttons move it. Do like that it uses basic AA batteries. (just bring extras with ya) The USB port is nice to load up or pull way points.

I use a Garmin 64 with TOPO Hiking maps which is very accurate!

I don't own one yet. But will probably buy the Garmin etrex20 or 30.
