Don......

My mother passed away 2 years ago on May 7th just before Mothers Day. It was my Mom who really got me started in our great pass time. She would tell me stories as a child of growing up in the 1930s and 40s during the Great Depression, WW2 and I would always listen in fascination. Then in 1985, I found an article in the National Enquirer magazine from Whites Metal Detectors. She wrote Whites in Sweet Home, Oregon for a brochure on their detectors and out of the goodness of her heart ordered me a Whites Liberty 2 metal detector. She thought Sweet Home was such a nice name for a town. Anyway, on the way back from the Post Office, we realized she didn't send the money in US funds. She ran back to the Post Office and they found the letter and she changed the Money Order to US dollars. I thought I would find Treasure galore but was disappointed when all that was found was bottlecaps. She then went through all the trouble to send it back but Whites returned the detector. We didn't know there was a no return policy. Kept it anyway and 4 years later, tried detecting again when I was older and had great success. She was always interested in what I found.

I still miss her and would trade all my treasures to spend 5 minutes with her again. She was the Greatest Treasure of All. Here is my Mom....
