Greetings ladies and gents!

Decided to add a new hobby (detecting/panning) to the already much loved outdoor visits. Tech savvy, so do like tinkering around with devices and improving them where I understand how... ;D I wont lie, really enjoy learning a lot about geology... if school was as interesting, i might have been better equipped to deal with information here in the golden state.

so far (few weeks in) me and the G2 are getting to know each other.... still have yet to land a nugget to see what and how it sounds, but mostly end up kicking hot rocks around (not to say that i haven't already gathered 1/2 gallon of trash ex: tabs, bullet casings, actual bullets, hooks, old square hand made nail, earring, old bent broken ring) but i would love to locate something more original, not man made (if you are catching what I'm throwing, picking up what i'm setting down) so any advice will be depreciated.

Welcome aboard. When I first went looking for colonial copper coins, I bought one off the net and took it to the beach to find out what the machine made of it. I'd suggest buying a small gold nugget, put it in a plastic bag so you won't lose it and take the machine out with it to see how it sounds. And with gold, you will have to dig a lot of junk.

Welcome from N.Mississippi and good luck
