Happy Trials Update, April '07 (One Little Angel and Silver)

Hi All,
Gary and I got out to our favorite site today. Happy Trails produced again. First warm day we have had for awhile. Heck 45 degrees is HOT!

Gary found 8 wheat penny's, 1919 D, '42 D, '44, '52 D, '48 D, '44 D, '45, '55 D. A 1953 D Roosevelt dime and a 1943 Mercury dime. He also found a Melvin Purvis Junior G-Man badge.

I found 7 wheat penny's '39, '40, '43, '56 D, '48, '53, '57 D. I also found a 1957 Roosevelt dime and a 1948 Silver Washington Quarter, two War nickels '42 P & 43 P. Also dug up one fine ANGEL!!!

We hunted over 5 hours and pulled out many clad coins and other items, Junk!

Hope you all had a good day hunting, HH, Ringfinder

Ya'll did good today! Glad it finally warmed up for ya! Geeze...45? I'd never make it up there. Who is Melvin Purvis? :P

Nana ;D

OH..and you misspelled junk....it's junque.

Definition of junque: Purdy good stuff that ya dig up, toss into a bucket, leave there for a while cause it ain't quite quality enough for the displays, put back for a few months (or years, depending on the individual). May/or may not eventually get tossed out after a sufficient amount of time. junque. ;D

Melvin Purvis, was a FBI agent or G-Man, back in the 20's. Also Junk is Junk here in Ohio, LOL In the dictionary it says Junk: old or discarded material or objects and so on and so on. LOL

Re: Happy Trials Update, April '07 (One Little Angel and Silver)

I am dyin' for my first silver quarter for the year, maybe monday. Nice digs.

Re: Happy Trials Update, April '07 (One Little Angel and Silver)

Nana, Melvin Purvis was one of the most famous FBI agents in history, responsible for bringing down several big time gangsters including Baby Face Nelson, Pretty Boy Floyd, and John Dillinger. Hence the Junior G-Man badges.

It's an old Nate & Mirage trick, use olive oil to shine coins up. I forgot to wipe the oil off of Gary's coins, that's why they really look shiny.

Believe it or not, I dug the Silver Quarter, the Roosevelt dime and a Wheat penny out of the same hole, guess you could say, it was my fist cache of the season. LOL

Thanks TNT, actually you can get just as much detail with a smaller jpg. picture as a big jpg. Downsizing doesn't take away from the detail. Thanks again.

HH all, and thanks for looking at my post. Ringfinder

Nice bunch of coins, Ringfinder! I really like the badge. Jeez, must be tons of those floating around as I've seen several posted recently. Will remember the olive oil tip.

Today it was 39 degrees when we headed out to a local park to search....yeah, 45 sounds pretty good! ;)

Thanks Handyman for clearing up the facts about Melvin Purvis. Even my wife didn't know who he was, although I did. Your information was of great help.

Good stuff. That badge is unique. Cool find. 8)

Nate smoked me on the silver at the 'berg Saturday. Fact, I got skunked. He caught up to me in total silver for the year and is now ahead by one.
