I had to share the finds in the attached photo. There are several First finds for me.
The remains of the two Hardee Hat pins were found about four feet apart in the Rebel
lines in Nashville TN. It looks like the Soldiers were cutting out the Eagles and discarding
the remaining parts of the Hat Pins. I also found a 1926 Standing Liberty Quarter in the
yard. Another first for me was the Finial from a Soldiers cap pouch or cartridge box.

Sweet finds! Love the standing quarter!!...Brad

Nice finds . Standing liberty quarters are one of my favorite coins. I haven't dug one in a few years.

I'm a fan of your CW relics! I have the OTHER half of your hat pin, which we always called a Jeff Davis Tie-back. I have the Eagle! How cool to find TWO of the "discarded" portion of trench art. Really unusual!

The altered Hardee's are great finds. You are on a good site.

Very nice finds... CW and silver. Congrats.

Some great finds Mike. Is that a brass rifle butt plate? HH, Q.

I think the item is a a Brass Belt end hook for a sabre belt. At the top it is 1/4 of an inch wide. There is a picture of one on page 195 of Howard Crouch's Civil War Artifacts. I tried to bend the hook back up but the brass is very heavy.
