Harry's last hunt........for the year UPDATE

Never been one to 'revel' on New Years Eve I went detecting- I'm already in 2009 not like you guys on the other side of the pond still stuck in 2008 ;D ;D ;D

Anyway I've done a few hunts recently across the road from where I work. We get a lot of school groups visit and they often have lunch across the road on the grass and under the trees. In the last two weeks I'd done two short hunts conducted a few hours after work closes;

- the first hunt of an hour and a half I picked up $26.40 and a bullet pendant
- the second of two hours I picked up $42.60

Last night I hunted for another hour and a half and picked up $32.40 and a metal reticulated teddy bear. Aahh you gotta love the Aussie $1 & $2 dollar coins and low detectorist densities

All the very best for the New Year :icon_jokercolor:

Blimmin Heck ! :o
What do they do to those kids - shake them upside down? ;D

Are all the coins buried, or mainly surface finds?

Nice way to finish one Year and start the next.
All the Best for 2009

Most of them are with 2 inches of the surface - not too many laying on top. I just got back from my fourth hunt of the lawns - I spent 1 hour 40 minutes and found another $23.70 ;D ;D - definitely enough for 3 slabs

Re: Harry's last hunt........for the year - Updated with Site Picture

Ive measured the area out on Google and so far I've covered an area of about 85 meters long and 75 wide. I've now completed five short hunts in the area of about 1.5 hours each

1st - $26.40
2nd - $42.60
3rd - $34.60
4th - $23.92
5th - $22.40
Total - $149.72

I spend most of my year relic hunting but since I'm on holidays I'm just doing some easy mindless hunts. I keep thinking that there can't be much more the farther I get away from where the school groups sit but apparently they are migratory ;D
