Has any "clubs" tried something like this?

Louisville is getting ready for "thunder over louisville" this weekend.They have an 85 acre public access area for the viewing and of course afterward they have tons of trash.City workers and volunteers do the clean up.Now you know they don't get it all. There's going to be coin and jewelry and keys etc that have been overlooked.Seems to me a club could make a deal with the city to have a sanctioned search the day after and promote metal detecting while helping all those folks that can't get in their house or car 'cause they lost their keys etc.
Maybe some deal like offering this as a public service and the detecting club turns in any important items that are held and if no one claims them in a certain time period they go to the person that find them. I don't know if this has been tried but I would think this would be really good PR for the club.
