I finally got my cast off - doc still does not want me in the water yet
so traveling afar to hunt is still on hold but might try locally soon

Go hit a park or old home, it will be good for the soul

I was in the Clearwater Florida area last week from Ohio, needed a little change of scenery after 2 back surgeries over the winter. Hunted the beach a little bit, about 20 minutes at a time was all I could manage. Felt good to be out finally.

I have been traveling all year. 150 miles to one place in Virginia. 120 miles to another place in Virginia. 25 miles to one spot. 80 miles to another. 200 miles north to another. It's been fun but the heat is starting which will put a crimp in it.

South Florida's[water is about 80 degrees nowQUOTE=CASPER-2;6751811]I want water...preferably warm water :tongue3:[/QUOTE]

Been out once in the last 5 months, and that was a gear and body check.

No traveling here with the price of Gas, I'll keep it local as always.

I've stayed within 100 miles or so of home in the last year. I plan to go overseas in the fall though. You wouldn't like our water.....it's always cold! :laughing7:

I was down In Wrightsville beach in Wilmington NC last week. It was beautiful! I found a heavy gold filled chain and cross. It got my heart pumping, even if it wasn’t the real deal. Looking forward to crowded beaches this year!

I've been in Miami and the Keys this week. 3 hours on the beach in Miami, garbage gass money and some sinkers. 1.5 hours this morning in Key West scored a Silver Pandora Ring on the towel line. Made my day today. First silver on any beach for me. I'm not a beach Hunter but once I get home I'll get a good scoop and put on the wet suit. Hope you can get back to hunting soon.

Oh what do Dr's know about how one feels. Side on the side of caution always to keep themselves employed. :laughing7:

Had many surgeries with casts on the paw for 6 weeks after-then 4 months later, another one....repeat.
After the 3 week mark I just went out digging, wrapped a plastic bag over the cast and carried on/not that I lost a few from digging damage.

On a serious note Casper, it's good to hear your on the mend and will be in the water soon.

Wouldn't we all! The water here just never gets warm enough to go without a wetsuit for very long. Even in the dead of summer, it rarely get's above 70 degrees. That temp is fine for wading with booties, but, if you want to get really wet, shorts and t-shirt just won't cut it for more than an hour or so.

new england waters rarely get that warm - i wear a 5mm dive jacket in summer - keeps jellies off most of you too

Yup, one of the benefits of a wet suit. IIRC, when I lived in Rhode Island in the late 60's, it seemed the water was in the mid 70's all summer. Am I having selective memory? :laughing7: Maybe I was just more warm blooded back then!

Heading back to Mexico in two weeks. Went in November and got a nice 17.8g 10k ring. Can’t wait to get into that warm clear water again! Got on the first time locally and managed this Barber Half. My first in 35 years.
