Detector(s) used
Primary detector is a Garrett AT Pro
Also have a Garrett Ace 250
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
We are going back to the N.C. coast (Oak Island) and I'd like to be able to get in a little wet sand without worrying about destroying my detector. I saw on the Kellyco website that they had one called the Cobra Viper that was selling for $299.00 and could be used on land or in water up to 132 feet deep. I don't plan on doing much more than shin deep, anybody have any input on this. I really don't want to spend much more than $300-$350.00 bucks on a detector. I know you get what you pay for, but I tend to change hobbies a lot and until I know this is the one for sure I hate to spend too much.

Thanks,

I have a Cobra Beach Magnet.....it does a good job. I don't plan on diving with it; but it's comforting to know if it rains while I'm out; it won't get fried! I didn't know they still offered the other models. Mine lists at 499.95. If your looking for ease of use....then it's a good detector. Start at the recommended settings; then go from there. It gets easier from there. You can almost totally eliminate tabs; and you will know what trash sounds like in the headphones. No visuals; just sound.

Hey Ramapirate;
Just noticed the shin deep part.....most detector coils are submersable; so a garrett ace 250 would be a great candidate if you don't dive with it. Ebay with a full warranty new in the box for $212 free shipping.
