Taking a vacation at the end of this month and into July. Heading to Buffalo first then over to New York City. I was wondering if there is any place to detect land or water. Can meet up with someone for a few hours for a park or beach hunt......Matt

Inside New York City you need a special permit. The permit is free, but you cannot get it same-day. You are still restricted to certain days and areas in parks that allow detecting, and other parks are completely off limits (Central Park).

I have lived in ny state 56 yrs and never been to ny city or buffalo, if you get into central upstate ny give me a yell--good luck

If you stay close to Kennedy Airport. You could head down cross bay blvd towards Rockaways. The first bridge crossing water there's a parking lot on either side of road on south side of bridge. The east lot the shallow water is great for coin shooting the India, people are always throwing/offerings to what ever god.
The south side the water is deeper and more common for Jewelry or floating chicken heads from the Santaria crowd on Sundays.
Jamaica Bay is a Gateway National Park so above high water mark there rules would apply.

I want me a floating chicken head!
