That is the coolest one I've seen in a long time. Some type of inclusion--quartz?

It is common to see the black arc streaks and dirty dotty inclusions.
It is the only one I’ve seen with that “tip to shoulder”.
We’re all here to witness how “man” has used Mother Natures “work and gifts” to enable survival.
She did the hardest part and made it look so easy and simple, when we say “natural formation or looks natural to me” is really a copout as to how special this whole place is.

Well I can see why it's not broken- who would risk launching that into a rock? Super cool

I knew there was something familiar about your Hartville point Fat. I just went through some of my finds and I think I found it's baby sister. If it's ok with you I'll take a couple pics tomorrow and post them up?

Absolutely yes please.
I can hardly wait.
My number is 77, what is yours?

heartville 2.webpheartville.webp Not near the find that yours is Fat although I believe it is made out of the same material. This is a south central Nebraska find and measures right at 3/4 of an inch.

I love it. Im sure that’s heartville uplift from SE Wyo.
I live in 77 county.
What number in yourcounty?

Not near the find? Yours is just fine with me. That is as good as it gets. If it makes you feel better about your piece, I would trade you in a heart beat. The more I gaze upon it, I love it.
Now,
I really need to see more. You pick one out with peculiar birth mark this time and let me see if I can put the family back in touch. How about the pink stuff, flattop does stand out.

flattop insitu.webpflattop flake.webpflattop scrapper 3.webp You picked a tough one Fat. Pink Flattop is a rare find in the area that we hunt and we have never found a point made out of this material. The only pink Flattop we have found over the years is a couple of surface found tools. Best I can do. By the way, my number is 52.:D

That is the stuff. I like it alot.
#52.... do you have any High School age children? Do they run track/cross country?
Coach SW is a lifelong friend. I grew up with coach “wheels”. Grade school/High school, one year older. Ive been trying to think of a fav. story with him but that would take weeks. I will say, pound for pound he is as tough as anyone Ive called my friend. Even the one that got drafted in the 3rd round and played 7 years for the Denver Broncos.

Lavender Flattop 2.webp I've never really met coach Wheelock although I see him drive by our house once in a while when he's out watching his CC kids run. Our granddaughter runs track and CC for Kearney so I've seen him a few times at some of the meets. My wife and his wife are friends. Small world.
Here is our lavender Flattop pieces Fat. The drill in the center is 2 1/2 inches long and both pieces on the ends are uniface tools. All 3 were found by my wife. Again, I'm sorry to say, we don't have any points made out of this material although we do have what I believe to be a small tip to a Folsom preform that is made out of it. Gotta love finding anything made out Flattop around here because these finds are few and far between.

It is a small world. My track and CC connection at Fort K, I call it Fort K, are the Sterlings, more Doane College All-Americans. I know half of the Doane Nation because of them. When the sun comes up, I’m going to call them both.
The steam engine at Fort K is a favorite of mine. When I was in high school, I had summer job at Ash Hollow, the old superintendent was a steam engine guy. He found that engine at a sawmill above centennial Co. 1 of 16 (I was 16 anyways) that is the exact machine that Fort K. had when it was a frontier fort. I got to go and help dismantle and haul back and than reassemble. I need to get reacquainted because it has been too long. Right now it is my “baby” and an “in my dreams connection” to Eugene Ware and his “Indian wars of 1864” the best book ever written down.DECB4029-EA9E-480D-8AA6-4C30038342C4.webp3EBC1218-4955-4E79-B457-9BD4401BE444.webp

You have a lot of great finds in those two pics Fat. Looks like you've been hunting this stuff for a long time. Thanks for sharing those with us.
