Thinking a hit and miss flywheel? But I have never seen one. Took awhile to dig out, seems like its been there 100 years. Stones were stuck to it. One side seems to have a sprocket.
Thanks

Almost big enough to sell at the scrap yard. Heavy duty for sure. Gary

Looks like the handle off an old steam valve - these are from an old locomotive, old farm tractors had steam engines as well.....

In the third picture the "L" shaped piece does look like a broken crank throw. I think it is a flywheel of sorts but like Bruce says I don't think it is a hit & miss. Could be a flywheel from an early two cycle marine engine. Most were small and used small heavy flywheels, sometimes used in running small farm implements. I could find some close but not an exact match in my books. After all there were 3,600 patents for the early engines.

This area was used for logging back in the day, maybe from then?

One more pic. These an old screw it seems so I'm assuming it might have had a wooden piece there...the collar has a square head bolt. I'm leaning towards maybe off a steam donkey? Sorry, this is bugging me hahaha20180624_175547.webp

The square head bolt is an old style set screw, That rules out engine flywheel. Engine flywheels have either a gib key or split hub with a bolt.

Could have been a flywheel for a pump jack, it was found in water. Most used wooden arms.

Thanks Tony, you seem to be the expert in this, I really appreciate the help. Any guesses on time frame? Meanwhile I am going to be looking at pump jack photos for awhile

I will correct myself then, probably like was said steam engine or tractor . Dont overlook sawmills alot used to run flywheels big and small.

That's true, especially with the logging, thanks!
