This is my first post. I metal detected for the first time yesterday, although I've always had "the bug" for finding "treasure". I was detecting on a homestead site that has been around since 1831, and one of the landowners was a CW surgeon. I had an excellent day. Here are my notable finds:
a small die cast caboose (my 4th target)
a period flat button
a period toe tap
The caboose could be a tootsietoy, but I won't know until I carefully clean it. The button and toe tap could be CW related, but that's impossible to know for sure. They're definitely period finds (1830 - 1890).
