Hi,

My husband and I are new to metal detecting, and are excited to find this forum. Unfortunately, it is a little too cold here right now to go out, but we are anxious for the spring to get started again. We did find something that we are going to need help identifying, and I am going to post it on another post. Thank you for adding us!

Welcome you guys from Michigan! Great forum here with great people so ask any and all questions. I promise we will share ideas on increasing your finds!

I will add one now; if you're in an area that's loaded with the old style of pulltabs, dig everyone of them because they are hiding gold too. Most people won't take the time to remove them but you will be rewarded for your effort!

Oh that is so interesting because we did find some old aluminum pull tab cans, we will keep looking! We don't know what we are doing, but are learning on the fly. I did get Eric a pointer for his birthday in April and it helps a lot!! One of our neighbors lost her husbands wedding ring that she was wearing on her thumb, in some woods near our house and we would absolutely love to find that ring, and knock on her door to return it to her.

Keep some of the trash you find so you can test it against gold rings and other good targets. Good luck with finding the ring and make sure you ask your neighbor to show you guys the path she took from the house to the woods and back because it's almost never where they thought they lost it. I have found most of them on the path they took from the house.
